Hello,

I have installed a MSI 6590 motherboard, There is no power getting to the board. The power gets power if you change the CMOS jumper to 2-3(Clear CMOS), but does not power when set to 1-2. Any suggestions?

The cmos jumper could be mislabeled. Does the board complete posting, or the fans just turn?

No the board does not complete posting, and it will not save any setting in the BIOS. When the Jumper is set to 2-3.

I would remove the mobo from the case, and place it on top of the box it came in. Using just the cpu/heatsink, one stick of memory, and video card, try getting it to post. The video card bracket can hang over the edge of the box. Be sure to connect the power switch lead and atx 20 pin connector. Try the cmos jumper in the normal position (1-2), and remove the mobo battery for a few seconds to reset the bios. Msi has direct rma service available, and turn around is about 5 days from receipt. No original receipt is required. They just check the serial number to determine when the board was manufactured. You can also call them to ask about the cmos jumper label.

There's a button on the front of your case, it's probably the biggest one, that's there for turning on your computer.

There's also a 2 wire lead on it that's probably labled PWR_BTN or similar. That needs to be connected to the corresponding 2 pin place on the board.

If your power supply has a power switch, it's probably labled 1 and 0, switch it to 1, then push the power button on the FRONT of the case.
