abit nf7-s ..no sound?!?!

i reformatted my comp and stuck xp pro on. however after installing all the drivers for my mobo there is no sound. i have checked whether mute is on. i have checked in device manager to make sure everything is installed sound wise. i have tried different ports and speakers, and i have reinstalled the mobo drivers.
Now im stumped what this can be does neone have ne ideas because goin on my pc without any sound is so annoying.

this is more of a novice approach....if you are still having problems.

When I built my first system I had no sound with the soundblaster live value card. Eventually I found out there was a box I had to check/uncheck to toggle digital/non-d output. That was the whole problem. I actually had digital speaker and had hooked both the digital and non-digital connections. Nonetheless as soon as I checked that box I had sound.
