I have to admit, I used to see a lot of trolling. But since I don't even view the CPU/mainboard/Gfx forums anymore, I don't really see it anymore.

I probably have posted a few that could be judged 'trolling', but I would call it more like 'disrespectful' or 'totally miffed at msft' posts.

It's a two edged blade here. Gamefaqs is modded *VERY* heavily; half the topics/posts in the "others" quite literally would not exist at that level of modding. But then, Tommy's Place doesn't have 100,000 accounts either.

But I agree; Fredi needz to place a few GOOD (keyword here) individuals as mods, and cut down on his workload. It's not like they're webmasters here; just trained monkeys that walk a beat.




Here's my only question: why does everyone sweat the trolls? My God, people. Do you not work with a$$holes at your dayjob, or at least have to deal with them when they walk in off the street wearing pimp attire and a backward-visor?

Ok... I should have been more specific about the 'troll' defenition. If a person trolls sometimes but the rest of his post are very usefull and good it isn't a troll. But if someone only posts bs... flames other and trolls around with only 1 of the 100 posts a helpfull one then it is a troll and there should be something done against it.

And yes, I just used an example of an sultion I saw on a Dutch forum... which could he an option here... it was just an example not more. I don't visit eh CPU/GC/Mobo forums at this moment so I hardly see trolling... but I hear much complainment about it here in The Other... so I added this question to my question to Fredi.

We only may have to get rid of trolls if they ignore warnings from the webmaster/moderators. Then we ban theire acoount for 48 hour (or something) and make sure they don't start another account. After that we let them post again and see if they start to help more people. If they don't then they can be banned.

You said you haven't seen much trolling, but hear people whining about it. Someone els said they haven't seen much either. I then would have to wonder why you even bring it up. I don't mean to give you a hard time, it's just I been hear awhile and really haven't seen to much trolling. There was amdmeltdown that stuck out like a sore thumb. I would read his post, but wouldn't get in a flame war with him. Guess, I'm saying the most I seen, usually took two to flame back and fourth. The people attacking a troll, isn't much better then the troll. So if two people are calling names back and fourth, I can't see just warning one, just because one started it. I realize not all of us are adults here, but I feel we should fight our own battles, debate back and fourth, and if it gets to much to handle get out if it. Out side of that I have no ideal who you are talking about, and don't understand why you or anyone els that has a problem can't ignore them. That's all I have to say about it.

That´s just nonsense if you ask me.

Now and then I do my best to help some poor chap that has a malfunctioning computer...I tell him what I think is the best solution for a particular problem.
I know that my "expertice" is somewhat crippled and I might say a few things that are not perfectly correct while I try to help him out.

However, I trust most peoples common sense and therefore I don´t think that the guy will try all "solutions" as soon he´s getting the first answer...
if he does, well...bad luck.

What do I want to say?
Well, the outcome of my answer and a trolls might as well be the same...should I be marked as well?

You say you didn't mind all the trolling, and have no ideal how bad the spamming is, but yet you want Fredi to do something. See my point. Not sure what you mean by the newbies coming here. Cause I doubt THG is responsible for any information a person receives. Sort of like use the information at your own risk. Also I'm sure any wrong information will quickly be corrected by another member, someone is always on the job 24/7. I don't look at anybody as a troll, well were all trolls in away. But, I feel each and ever member would help someone els out if they could, and that there are very few that wouldn't. This few being sick in the head, and I doubt you have to worry about them making it here for long. I remember amdmeltdown saying to AMD-Man after building his Intel system, nice system, so even he has another side. It's real easy to label someone, but that doesn't mean that's who they really are, 99% of people have a heart, and also feelings. Guess it all depends on the size of the person, some take things serious, others have more understanding, some hold grudges, others don't, some care, some don't. So stop being a bully and leave them trolls a lone. Lol..........Like I said before, I took a wrong turn and ended up here, I normally don't get involved in this sort of thing, but I was board, didn't feel like trying to help someone get their system to boot. Must be why people go to the other, tired of answering the same old question. Maybe I'll get a sight with some links, for people won't have to keep telling people what to check, or how to boot their system. I would need some help myself, starting with how to get a sight up. All that red tape, don't know what I need or don't need. Over and Out.

Yes, this sight must be about the slowest on the planet. It also seem 1 out 5 times I have to log in again, then might get an error. I personally would like an answer from Fredi why this is, and if anything will be done about it. I have an ideal why it's so slow, but surely something can be done.

The servers suck, agreed! A hardware site should be able to use some of countless "samples" they get and put something together that performs better. I'm on a fiber optic cable network with 1.5MB/s up and downstream and most of the time these forums CRAWL.

Moderators would be a good idea if they were experts and provided insight and substance to the forums. As for POLICING - that would be annoying and very AOL. We're not kiddies here and can handle our own in my opinion.

Of course, "I'm new around here" since I think a board cop would be imposing and frankly annoying. I rather have someone on staff whose an expert and actually contributes to the forums, not someone who moves posts because it's in the wrong folder or "nicely reminding us that the discussion isn't appropriate" etc.
