Device manager shows nothing!!

I noticed tonight that I was getting no sound from my speakers, so I went to check the Device Manager, and look at the driver, and saw nothing in the list!! It is completely blank!! I have an ASUS A7NVX motherboard, and use the built-in Nvidia sound controller. I checked in the bios to make sure the onboard sound was enabled, and it is. My system has crashed a few times lately, at various times, and while doing different things. Any ideas as to why my device manager list is blank? Help!?!

These things happen. Reinstall the driver.
