The older version, P4S533, works fine. It was when Asus screwed with the memory traces to try and make them equal length for the 648 chipset that they phuked it up.

Any others boards you think we should look at?

I actually like the P4S533. But most 645 boards were good, take your pick. They outperform 845 boards. No problems running PC3200 at full speed on my friend's P4S533.

Gigabyte has a highly rated 648 chipset board. You could by a refurbed 865PE board or something perhaps.

The Abit IS7 can be had for about $90 shipped at Pricewatch.com, and its a very very good mobo, and worth every penny over your $75 limit, go check it out and you will see why, trust me its not a waste of your time.

My abit SR7-8X (SiS 648) actually outperforms my abit AI7 in 3D mark (with the same gfx card), but I found the AI7 didnt overclock very well and lacked support for features such as dual channel. I suggest you get the IS7, very cheap, very reliable, very overclockable.

Did you buy the first board or already have it? Sounds like the abit is7 is still the strong house favorite. I'd work an extra few hours and go for the tried and tested board my friend. What's $23 if the system is hassle free and lasts longer? :>)
