I'm thinking of puting together a pentium computer. Only thing is is that I don't know which mobo to get or with what chipset is the best a for pentium with HTT. I'm a athlon person myself, I was thinking of getting a an athlon 64, then I started reading reviews and it looks as if pentium it the was to go right now. Besides I really can't afford a high end 64. I could probably only afford a athlon 64 3200. Another question I have is, if the FSB 800Mhz, what memory would I get? Anything over pc3200 gets expensive. Anyways, any input is greatly appreciated.

Oh and how can you tell what pentium you have? I have a 2.4, not sure if its b or c or what. I was just reading a post and what does it mean when they type bump in there?

Best bang for the buck is ABIT IS7. Best overclock chip is 2.4C, 2.6C, or 2.8C. Best stock value right now is 3.0C. Best stock PC3200 is Crucial. Bump means nothing in this forum. At Anandtech it pushes your post up to the top of page one. You should have numbers stamped on the top of your CPU heatspreader. What are they?

IF yuor FSB is 533 its a B if its 800 you have C.Do you have HT ? The only P4b that had HT was the 3.06 ghz.Ans far as a mother board recomendation Decide what chip your going to buy and what features you want and then we will recomend one.

Think I'm gonna go with a 3.0 with HTT. But it says 3.0E. I'm guessing E is for prescott core? Which letter or core do you guys recomend?

I would recomend the C (northwood) over the E(prescott) becuase the prescott has heat issues
