one yr. ago I bought gateway tower-4core,8gb memory, 1 tb harddrive, free upgrade to windows 7 to handle new RC flight simulator which old cop. wouldnt run. WEI score was 7.9 - 7.6 I added 37inc. lcd 1080i hdmi t.v.-better view for blind old fart like me! video score went down. added hd 5770 sound card[recomended by best buy] score went up to 7.4. primary hard drive transfer rate still low 5.9. anybody know why or how to get it back up or does it matter? Im not to computer smart and any help would be appreciated!

5.9 is fast for a standard hard drive. Only way to increase that score is to install a new solid state HD and put the OS on it. it will score in the 7's and increase boot time by @10 seconds.

i swore i was inthe low 7,s but maybe i was looking at the other ratings. what is a solid state HD? If i was looking at the right thing my hd is a hitachi hdt 721010sla360 ata. 1tb HDD. came stock in gateway dx4300-03 computer.
thank you for the info seems like everybody out there these days [especially gateway] wants $ for any help.

what is a solid state HD?

It's a drive that contains flash memory chips instead of rotating magnetic platters. Much more expensive on a $/byte basis, but much, much faster. Typically abbrevated "SSD" (Solid State Drive). See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solid-state_drive
