Does no one use voice coms?

So I bought a headset so my friend and I can chat while playing crysis and stuff. So I was online playing crysis wars with my headset but everyone was using text. They could hear me, I know cause they responded to me with text. Just seems like such a pain to me to communicate in a game with typing, especially when you could just talk...


Also, does steam have voip or just text?

I know most people who use headsets are in clan TS/Vent servers. No one I know ever uses in-game coms.
