Motherboard problem or not?

I posted this in the XP forum, but not sure if it might be a motherboard issue:

I have a Asus P4S333/PA/WOL board with a Intle 1.5 GHz BX80531NK150G processor. I had been running Win98 with little problems. Got some kind of worm/virus so I decided to just start over with XP. I loaded XP, but now I get frequent reboots (system just shuts down and restarts with no warning).

I thought maybe it was my XP, so I loaded 2000 and got the same results. I put 98 back on and it was stable. Any idea what would cause the system to reboot with XP or 2000 but not 98?

Thanks, Jay

My guess w/b that's it not a hardware problem (i.e., not mobo) since it's stable with win98se.

Perhaps its a driver problem.

Although I don't use win XP, those who do speak of error logs to see what's causing the problem. Perhaps you can look into that to help determine the cause of the problem,

Good Luck with it.
