I have a 60gb drive that I used to experiment with Longhorn on my old machine. Now it's a backup drive in my new machine (running XP) and I just deleted everything on the drive to clear it, but XP is now giving me a boot choice at startup between Longhorn and XP. How can I get rid of the Longhorn choice?

Can I just format the drive that used to have Longhorn? Or do I need to fdisk it? If so, how do I do that from XP?

Thanks

Register or log in to remove.

using the winXP cd you should be able to access the repair console. at which time you have the option to Fixboot or bootfix (type in help and it will list the comands)

this would hopefully fix your problem.

Open System Properties (Winlogo + Pause/Break key), click on Advanced tab and choose Startup and Recovery settings. Choose Edit and delete the reference to the OS you want to remove (Longhorn).

 Good or Bad have no meaning at all, depends on what your point of view is.
