Ok so I had a problem with my drive, it got a bad sector, probably due to a power supply problem.

I fixed teh error and improved the psu I have no recurrance of the original problem.

however I now get this message in the logs everytime I start up and shut down:
Event ID: 5 Level ERROR Source Kernel-General

{Registry Hive Recovered} Registry hive (file): '\??\C:\Windows\System32\config\COMPONENTS' was corrupted and it has been recovered. Some data might have been lost.

Is there anyway to heal/repair my registry? I've tried pcmatic and Free Window REgistry Repair v2.0 that major geeks reconmended.

My install media for win 7 ultimate in the upgrade cd, whenI put it in the drive it starts the install program, and doesn't give me an option to repair my current installation (unless i'm getting uneasy and cancel it too soon, I do this at the point where it asks if ti should use the internet to improve the install?)

Any advice would be great, as it is an upgrade licence I really want to avoid a reinstall if I canget away with it. but I don't want to continue with a problem in the registry permanently.

I can find no performance issues at all.
