hey guys i need some help setting up a new SATA drive installed properly in my computer. i have a Epox 8KRA2+ motherboard with highpoint RAID for IDE and intigrated SATA RAID from the VT8237 southbridge. operating system is windows XP.

right now i have 2 IDE 80 Gig WD drives in RAID 0 on the highpoint RAID device and im trying to add a new 250 Gig WD SATA drive to my computer, the problem im having is that windows wont detect the 250 Gig drive and assign a drive letter to it but if i look in the device manager it shows it connected with no conflicts or errors and the VIA RAID tool shows it connected also.

is there somthing im missing here? it looks like it should be installing properly but windows just wint give it a drive letter or let me do anything with it. i have tried uninstalling it and then reinstalling it and still no new drive shows up in my computer.

or is the problem that i dont have 2 drives in a proper RAID array?

well it looks like i managed to come up with a workaround for this problem. if anyone has a problem like this in the furure try atempting to install windows on the drive to the point that you get the chance to make a partition on the drive then exit and boot up windows normaly and it should show up and you can format it. hope this helps somone in the future :)
