First of all, I'm working with a Gigabyte GA-K8VT800M. As I'm sure some of you know, the onboard audio works very sporadically and often goes off alltogether. To counteract this problem, I bought a Creative Sound Blaster Live! 5.1 PCI card. I also have a D-Link 510 Wireless adapter situated in the PCI slot closest to the AGP slot.

My problem is that whenever I put the sound card in place (in either of the two other avaliable PCI slots) and boot up, the D-Link card is suddenly not recognized at all. It's fine again when I take the sound card out. Any possible reasons/solutions?

I would first remove both the d-link and sound devices in the "add/remove programs" section in the control panel. Then I would go into the bios and be sure the onboard sound is disabled. Then try changing the sound settings. On my board, they are located in the "integrated peripherals" section, but may be in a different section on yours. I changed one setting from 330 to 300, and the irq from 7 to 5 (only 2 settings). Then reboot and let windows reinstall the devices.

Pull dlink from slot it's in. put sound card in whichever slot you want, but leave one closest to AGP empty.

It is probably an IRQ setting problem. Try changing the irq of one or the other in device manager. If you cant, you will have to find out (device manager again) what IRQ is being used. It is probably 7, as SB likes to use that one. Then pull the SB card, and when you boot, go into bios, and reserve IRQ 7 or what ever one was the problem. Boot, and make sure that the nic card has thar IRQ. Then do the same thing, only using IRQ 5 . This should then go to the sound card.
