I believe I have some trouble with a parasitic connection to ground on my motherboard. May this be controlled by measuring the voltage on the power good wire between the PSU and motherboeard? I have a Abit NF7-S motherboard and measured the voltage on the powergood wire to be 4,7V.

The problem was discovered when I installed a new PSU (NorthQ NQ4001) and it shut down the power imediatly after I pushed the on button. I now use my old PSU which still works.

The rule of thumb is + or - 5% on rail voltages. Your NorthQ is out of spec. I doubt it's a MB ground. Try that supply in another rig and see what you get.

Thanks. Returned the NorthQ and bought another more expensive PSU from BeQuiet! This works just fine.
