I am currently looking at two Panasonic Viera Plasma TV's and am having a hard time choosing between the two. They are the exact same TV except that one has a max resolution of 1080p and one has a max res of 720p. At this moment, I can get the 1080p television for $110 more than the 720p television. Is there that much of a difference between 720p and 1080p for games on the xbox? Is the $110 price difference worth the upgrade regardless of the difference I will see?

Screen Size: 42"

Viewing Distance: Shouldn't be too far, whatever I can manage out of the meager size of a college dorm room.

Xbox 360 renders all its games in 720p and up-scales them anyway, unless your going connect a PC, I will go with the 720p version.

(Spend the rest on more games or whatever)

If you are gonna watch TV and movies (especially Blu-Ray) then I recommend a 1080p HDTV.
