Does CPU hyper-threading, such as the Core i7 has, have any performance impact on video games? What is hyper-threading mostly, and best used for? Will future PC games be programmed to make use of hyper-threading?
There was a post around there a week or two that compared hyperthreading vs nonhyperthreading in various games. The conclusion is that they are effectively equal (HT won by a frame or two in some games, nonHT in others).
Hyperthreading "On" does increase the heat on the CPU by a considerable amount (10c on mine)... I have it disabled to allow for a higher OC at lower temperatures, therefore increasing the performance of the chip at similar temperatures.
and by the way Bloomifield processors better than lynifield processors
i mean the 9"s of i7 better than 8"s because it has 4.8 GT/s QPI instead of the 8"s wich have 2.5 GT/s DMI thats make the 9's uses HT better than the upgraded i5 the 8"s is just like i5 but little upgraded
