does anyone know if there is any reason i could not run registered pc3200 ecc memory on an asus a7n8x deluxe mobo ??

registered memory modules wouldn't be supported with this chipset. Usually find support for registered memory modules where there is a potentional for large memory load - Opteron, as an example.
