First Build - Can't connect wireless on windows 7

Okay, just finished a computer build, installed windows, reached desktop, and installed mobo drivers and stuff. The thing is, it says something like "no network adapter plugged in". And, the symbol is a monitor with something like an ethernet cable next to it.

Sorry if it is a bit broad, but I'm typing out of state at the moment

What you are seeing is the network adapter symbol telling you its not plugged in.
If you have a wireless adapter installed then disable the network adapter in control panel or see if there is somewhere in network properties to list prefered connections.
What wireless adapter do you have?
Check in Device manager to see if widows sees it.
