What does it mean when a computer beeps four times when it boots up? I know that the beeps mean certain things, can anyone tell me what this means? Thanks! Running Win98SE
I'd try to help, but starbucksaddict pretty much got it all.
If you're too lazy to look it up, check to see that the video card is seated properly, that the cpu is seated correctly, and then take out the ram and see if there's any obvious damage to it. If not, put it back in (make sure it goes in all the way; it can be tricky), and try to restart.

ohhh boy beep codes I remember trying to figure out those damned things, back in the day. when I was newb. then I learned how to troubleshoot for myself. hmmm if I just took out a stick of ram to scratch my ass with and use as a straight edge for shcool. now its beeping. oh I guess I forgot to put it back in... maybe you should tell us what you did prior to this uncalled for beeping.
In theory there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice there is.
