Wow! THG did a review of IL2 Sturmovik: Forgotten Battles and my best friend and I were so impressed, we both called each other early in the morning (11:00 AM!) to find a way to get it. Anyone have this game? It looks so sweet- I wanna land a bomber @ 300MPH:)

I've also heard great things about it, I'd love to give it a try.

And 11:00 am is like the crack of dawn around here, any phone calls before 12 better be a life or death situation

It's all good ^_^

It´s a very nice game, probably the best WWW2 flight sim I ever played.
The damage model is absolutely marvelous.
Almost every part of the aircraft can (and will  ) be individually destroyed or damaged by enemy fire.
The aircraft will behave realistically (guessing here, I´m no pilot) if you get one wing tip shot off...

Anyway...I am eagerly awaiting their new flight sim
Check out the screenshots and videos, o la di da...talk about looking good

OMG OMG OMG OMG!!!! They have one with jets. This will be sooo sweet, I got a Saitek X45 and have been looking for a flight sim where I can use every button- this may be it! Thank u so much for introducing me to their upcoming flight sim!! I think my freind just got Forgotten Battles, so he and shall have a fun time kicking each others' asses:) Err, does Forgotten Battles needer a faster system than Il2 original?

I´m pretty sure you will be able to use every buttons on the Saitek.
I have´nt noticed any lag or framedrops in Forgotten Battles so it seems like you wont need to upgrade in order to play it...I am enjoying the game with my XP1600, 512MB in 1024x768 resolution, good enough for me.

I'm thinking of trying the IL-2 demo. I know that I can get IL-2 (original) for $20 Canadian (a little under $15 US) at my favourite CD-ROM shop. I do remember that I had trouble playing the demo for European Air War some time back, but I'm hoping my experience flying a Cessna 172 last summer helps a bit:)

BTW, my setup is a 1200 Athlon, 512 DDR, and a Geforce 2 Pro 64MB. Will that do it? Also, my joystick is an old Gravis Blackhawk (love the feel, hate the lack of buttons), is that a problem? And is it true you need to apply multiple patches to get the original to work well?

I don´t think you will encounter any problems with that system of yours *fingers crossed* .

Yes it´s true you have to apply multiple patches before you can install the latest, kind of annoying (but worth it in the end as you get new flyable planes and stuff like that)
