saving pictures problems

I have some problems saving pictures. My computer change the format it saving pictures from jpg to bitmat. My o.s. is winxp. i need help to return to it original jpg saving format. thanks.

When you hit the edit button in the picture and fax viewer it opens mspaint. When saving from paint it sometimes defaults to bitmap if you edit the picture at all. You will have to manually choose jpeg from the save as type menu when saving from mspaint.
I'll try to think up other things if that is not the case.

Try to download install the latest version of GIMP. It's a open source photo editor that is similar to Photoshop, but is limited in resolution and doesn't carry the $700 price tag.

the problem is when saving photos from web page using internet explorer.

Ah... When rightclicking and hitting save picture as (or clicking the little save button that pops up) you will have the choice of save as type. Choose the file type you want, some pics online will only let you download them as they appear online though. If they are posted as bmp files you may only be able to download them as bmp files.

when i try to save the only option in the window type is bmp.
when i click the picture to see it properties all the pictures are in jpeg.i dont now what happen.
