Hey All,
I am going to build a new AMD 64 system and was planning on using newegg to order most everything. However, I just noticed the same motherboard (MSI K8N Neo Platinum) on ebay for a lot cheaper...possibly. The only thing is that it is OEM. Any reason a novice computer builder who doesnt OC should avoid this ebay board? Would I be better off just getting the retail board for the warranty?
Thanks a lot.

OEM boards are usually same as RETAIL ones, you just dont get the cables and all the accessories.

Hehe, I've had problems with Asus boards that failed, OEM packaged, NO warranty.

It was a full retail set-up and I did have a warranty. With Mobo's and CPU's I'd avoid ebay simply because you might not be covered in case of an emergency or failure. Those parts are too high priced to mess about with. Other components, case, drives etc.. I got for my last build off of ebay no problem. Also if the seller is a brick and morter trying to move surplus you should be alright...

If it's one of the first versions you could be in for some problems. Make sure it comes with a decent return policy or from a person with good feedback. E-Bay is a good place to buy used stuff and a bad place to buy new stuff. JMHO
