hey
Im doing a upgrade.
getting new case, mb and cpu

i was thinking of getting the msi neo platinum with the sempron 3100+ or
should I get a neo 2 with a diff cpu?

I dont play much games just sims2 or cs or rogue spear. Nothing major. I do a lot of editing, digital photography, and various software.

I will be using my nvidia 5700 ultra with it. I heard the nvidia 3 chip was good. Nothing too expensive though.

and final question do you think the antec sonata 380wt be enough power and able to hold allt his?

any feed back is good.

I would go with the Asus K8N plainjane board, and the fastest A64 you can afford. The semprons are not a good value. That Asus board is only $89 at newegg, so it's great value. Since you have that graphics card, it's probably the next thing you will upgrade, and will probably require a new mobo anyhow, so not much point in going s939 now.

For the future, I would suggest a S939 CPU (A64 3000 i think it is) & a Nforce3/Kt800 S939 board (unless U wait for SLI then cheap S939 board)

Trust me I know what I'm doing... ooops, grab the cat...

i dont plan on upgrading much after that.

Well then, how about http://www.anitec.ca/?mode=product_detail&pid=1359
and http://www.anitec.ca/?mode=product_detail&pid=2493 If you take into account exchange, and duty, newegg would be more expensive.

what is the difference with 250 and 250gb? does the gigabyte technology make a big difference?
the only differences i see with the k8n and k8n e deluxe is the wifi and gblan and the gb technology?

I do have a pda but I do not need the wifi.

If i got the plain k8n, I would still probobly buy the amd64 3000

yeah Im pretty bored its 4:40am right now.

but i pressed enter before I could finish my typing.

If the upgrade is a bit over budget then Im only going to be getting 1 stick of ddr400 512ram and get the other 512 later.

i know where you are coming from. this would prevent me from upgrading for a long time. but comptuers now can run a lot of programs and I am not a serious gamer or anything. I play once in a while.

940's are a bit pricey though

Hi felow Canadian.

Since you're not a gamer, you probably won't feel like changing your GPU anytime soon so there is nothing wrong sticking to AGP for now, since any future upgrade wil probably involve lots of changes in hardware, I suggest you keep it low cost at this point.

you do digital photo editing, that demands a fast CPU, Loads of RAM (1 Gig should do) and big fast hard drives (at least two of them) Because we know how demanding those large Bitmaps, Photoshop files and Jpegs are.

I don't know what you're using now so I'm not sure what would be worth upgrading. If you have a 2.4Ghz or more, maybe only adding some RAM and buying yourself a Raptor (and controler) or two would do more for you than an new CPU.

tell me more.

sorry if I have made you repeat yourself.

what's your MoBo model?, While I don't remember MSI making MBs with i845 using SDR, it might have happened.

If your MB has DDR then there are still upgrade options like if your board supports fsb 533, the 2.8 northwood or Celeron D...
