Long time internet game player here and I know to explore my way around
simple user options, firewalls, ports, etc etc.

The problem is that even with the 'no password required' filter in
place, I can't find any servers that I am to join. A few will come up on
the list but they always end up asking me for a server password (I
reiterate that I filtered out password servers..).

So far I have not been able to find a single open server. Another
problem is that sometimes I find a server that is not full but yet I get
a full message anyway when I try to connect.

I'm going through a router but I don't appear to have any connection or
port issues, I'm just always being asked for a password upon attempting
to join a multi player game regardless if I have ignore that server type
enabled in my multi-player options.

My player name is just five common letters with a hyphen. I'm on
broadband. I got my sealed copy from Newegg, so I doubt there is any
funkyness with my CD key. I played through the entire single player game.

I imagine that I am encountering a bug or perhaps a corrupt file.

Anyone have any clues or experience with this problem?

Thanks

I had the problems of not getting into servers until I applied the patch.
If you haven't already done so, download and install the patch. It fixed a
lot of issues including filtering out the servers you specify, solves the
problem with not being able to list servers correctly in order of ping,
and I don't get any more messages about the servers being full, when the
browser just told me that nobody was in there...

Well that would seem to explain it. The Client out of the box must be
bugged because anytime I tried to have it check for updates, it told me
there were none.. :|

Anyway, I got the patch manually and will apply it now to see if it helps.

Thanks

I have been trying to run a server, and play on a server. My buddy and I
try to get into the same get hosted elsewhere and I end up somewhere
else, etc. etc.

Then I went into my router config page and set my IP to "DMZ" mode -
which is dangerous, BTW - and allows my computer full access to the
internet, and the internet full access to me! Voila! I could host a
game, get on games etc. So I know it is related to my router. You might
try this for a few minutes to see if you troubles disappear, so you know
it's at YOUR end. But don't just leave it that way, or your computer
will be quickly compromised. But at least you can ask router questions,
to find out the right solution for you!
