I am looking for recommendations on the best Intel CPU Based motherboard! I am completly open to suggestions, so throw them my way.

I am going to be using this build for intense gaming where high FPS in games like Doom2 and Half Life 2 are a must.

If your after extreme gaming machine, you want an AMD 64 bit system. They outperform even the fastest Intel has to offer.

XP2800+, Abit NF7, 1GB Dual-Channel DDR333, ATI R9800PRO 128MB, TT PurePower 420W, LG DVD+-R/RW

For socket 478 the Abit IS7 is still the best value. Good sound too. However, I have never played DOOM2 on it. It runs DOOM3 just dandy!

Abit IS7 - 3.0C @ 3.6ghz - Mushkin PC4000 (2 X 512) - Sapphire 9800Pro - TT 420 watt Pure Power
Samsung 120gb ATA-100 - Maxtor 40gb ATA - 100
Sony DRU-510A - Yellowtail Merlot

What makes the AMD 64 system (specifically the CPE) outperform an intel one? I have been searching, and it seems the fastest AMD you can get it what about 2.5Ghz? How does that compare to a 3.4Ghz pentium 4?

I am not really computer literate, so any help would be appreciated.

You just asked for a world of confusion my friend.

When comparing AMD64 to Intel, compare AMD's PR Rating (3500+, 4000+, etc) with Intel's Ghz (e.g. 3400+ is roughly equal to 3.4Ghz).

It's not exactly perfectly accurate, but it's considerably nearer the mark than comparing Mhz Vs Mhz.

AMD chips just do a lot more work per Mhz compared to intel.

Not wishing to seem unwilling to help much, but this topic has been done to death on these forums over the past 4 years or so, so I really can't be arsed to go into any more detail..
