Will the 939 mobo's get any cheaper soon? I'm building a computer in 3 weeks and i'm going with the socket 754 because the cpu's and mobo's are cheaper. It would be nice to build a socket 939 if the mobo prices became either cheaper or as cheap as the socket 754 boards nad the cpu's went down just a little. But on the other hand the socket 754 chips will probaly just get cheaper too which would make that more appealing.

Haven't seen anything in the news that indicates any near term drop in the price of 939 boards. Certainly the dual channel memory make the 939 a better choice, plus you can find the newer .09 process Athlon 64's for that socket.

S754 MB : 70$US and more
S939 MB : 100$US and more

S754 CPU : 118$US (A64 2800+) / 134$US (A64 3000+)
S939 CPU : 140$US (A64 3000+)

Overall, a Socket939 system will only cost 52$US more. This is not that much for a platform that is more future proof!

If you compare the price of 3000+ based system, the difference is only 36$US. If you don't have that 36$ or 52$ to spend, you probably have a "too tight" budget to buy a high-end system anyway and you should stick to low-end system based on SocketA Sempron!

I hope you understand the fact that if you want the lastest technology, you must pay a premium for it, and 50$US is not much to get the latest AMD technology.
