Abit NF7-M boot problem (no signal to monitor)

Well, I'm somewhat at a loss for how to troubleshoot this, as I can't even get a signal to my monitor to get any feedback in BIOS as to what is going on.

Here is my system:

Abit NF7-M
Athlon XP 2700+
Corsair Value Select PC2100 (2x256MB)
Antec PSU (came with the case; 350W)

When I turn on the system power, both LEDs on the motherboard come on, indicating that the motherboard has power and that system power is on, according to the manual. All fans and case LEDs work correctly.

Sadly, that's about all that's working right, as far as I can tell. There is no signal being sent to my monitor from the onboard video of the motherboard. I also tried putting in an old GeForce4 MX AGP card, which I know works (it's providing the video for the monitor I'm looking at now), and that didn't work either.

Any ideas as to what might be going on? I had a bit of a hard time getting the HSF on the CPU, so I am a little concerned that I might have damaged the CPU in the process. I will look into that tomorrow or Friday when I'm not so tired.

If the CPU isn't the problem (crossing my fingers), any other suggestions as to what the problem might be? I've built a couple systems before, but I've been fortunate enough in the past not to run into any tough troubleshooting issues like this.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What is the FSB of your processor? Is it a 133 or 166 version? I notice that the RAM you are using is DDR266, which works great if the FSB is 133. If the FSB is 166, you need DDR333 (PC2700) RAM. If thats the case, that would explain why its not booting.

Here is my processor: <A HREF="http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproductdesc.asp?description=19-103-342&DEPA=0" target="_new">Description on NewEgg</A>

According to the description, it has a 333Mhz FSB.

How can I "set the memory to 133"? Recall that I can't get into BIOS to change any settings. Is there some way that I can directly modify the speed on the stick of RAM or something?

Thanks for your help so far.

That's exactly what happens when you forget to plug in the 4 prong CPU power plug. Double check it. Been there, done that!

System powering up without response is normally caused by the ATX12v (4-pin square power connector) not being connected to the board, OR a damaged CPU, OR a reversed IDE cable. Since all modern IDE cables are keyed, I'll have to go with one of the first 2 causes.

Well, thanks for all the help, everyone. I solved the problem this morning. Crashman was closest to giving the right diagnosis; the CPU wasn't quite all the way into the socket. I was lucky that I didn't crack the core in putting the HSF on, but I carefully reseated the CPU and everything works great now.
