Neo2 Plat - $136
The cheapest Athlon 3200 I found was here: http://www.monarchcomputer.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=M&Product_Code=120422&AFFIL=FRG&NR=1
But you might not trust them and go with newegg for 189.
That leaves $50 for a HSF, which brings up the question, do you have thermal paste?

Also, what are your main goals - quietness or speed?
Or possibly just a good balance?

I've been a fan of the vantec aeroflow. I'm not sure about mounting it on a socket 939, I think you can but I don't have that experience.

1. First and foremost, do not type in all caps. Ever. At all.

2. That motherboard will work with any socket 939 processor. MSI's website states that it supports A64 processors. It's just restating that it's high quality enouhg to handle the high-end 64-bits as well.

Sure, it'll take any 939 pin Athlon64...

I'm not sure, but isn't the Mobile Athlon 64 a 754 pin chip?

This Mobo is great, but just maybe you should wait for Nforce4 chipset with PCI Express and maybe SLI.

I got one built the night before HL2 came out. So far, I think it's a great mobo and at a good price too. All has been smooth so far. I hear from the A64 guru's here that there is a Gigabyte that will OC better, but I think it is also alot more money. Either way, i'd definately buy the same mobo again.

There was a shortage for a week or so, and they now all seem to be shipping with a bios that supports the A64 3000+ and 3200+ no problem. I haven't tried to OC it much yet, but it did OC from 1800MHz to 2150MHz from within windows just using the MSI core utility. I'll have to hit the bios and see what it can really do. Anand hit 2.6Ghz on that mobo and a 3000+.

The retail HSF is more than enough for the Athlon 64 cooling. You can even do decent overclocking with the original HSF! You should stick to Boxed AMD64. And buy a HSF only if you want to do some extreme O/Cing.

These boards (MSI K8N Neo/Neo2) are out since some time, I can't tell exactly when it was launched. But, it's not a new kid on the block!
