umm ok i'm on a T1 line here at work and this site is slower then if i was on a dial up. Even my cable at home this site is super slow! It's beyond slow. It's ummm ya patheticly slow. It's about as slow as a 300 baud modem!

i forget to ask, is anyone else having this problem? It takes 3 minutes to post a message ... it does seem better now *shrugs* ...

YES! Like right now it seems okay, because I'm guessing no one is really here at 2:00PM ET, since ppl work and all. But come around 9PM-12AM ET, when it's 6-9PM on the west coast and people are at home and doing their thing on this site it takes 10 minutes to just get to the boards after pressing the community link on THG main page. It can take yet another 3-5 mins to view a post, and actually posting can take a while as well. My question is WTF do they have as the backbone to these forums? A commodore 64 or maybe they ported an Atari or some [-peep-] as the server? LOL! It's ridiculous, they need more bandwidth for peek use times or some new people may abandon the place thinking the forums don't work because it takes 10 minutes for them to even load from the main page. Mind you I as well am on a cable modem hooked to a fiberoptic line with 1MB per sec up and downstream, so it's defiantely on their end.

I HAVE a dial-up connection and this site is slow!

Yesterday it was taking 5 minutes per page when it was working.

It's obvious the reason for the horribly slow forums are the servers they're ran on, so how you connect to the net doesn't even matter. UPGRADE! Can't a freekin hardware site use some of the countless samples they have laying around and upgrade the damn server? sheeesh.. it is ridiculous really when it takes 10 mins for a page load.

I'm sure you are right since this site is "Out of Order" so often. It's a server problem, perhaps crappy software.

We know it's not the connection type. We were just describing the degree of slowness.

Some slow sites are due to the site's ISP limiting the traffic but this not likely the case here.

It seems to have stabilized and in fact is considerably faster than ususal!
I hope it stays that way.

IIRC, you posted this in the CPU section. Seems like Fredi's been watching over us a bit  .

Well it's now faster than it has been in months which means I'll make a post or two again. But what's the deal with the "Boards Overview" page not showing which categories have new posts? Anyone else have this problem?

Yup, me too. I have to look at the time of the last post now to see if there would be any new posts.

Seems better today than for the previous few days. Maybe there should be some place for 'announcements' when there's a problem or upgrade happening. Or maybe there already is, and I just don't know about it.

That (upgrade) which does not destroy you(r system's stability), makes it stronger. Nietzche

IT did seem better for a minute, then came the "peak usage" time I talked of and the lag came upon thee.

Well it is fast now... but the software seems to be a little messed up... by now the form for posting is in Swedish.
The reason for all this is that Fredi is upgrading the servers.
