Does anyone know if there will be any 939 boards that will suppport DDR2 in the near future. I managed to get 1Gb of Kinsgton Hyper x 5400 and an x800xt PCIe so, just need a board now?!?!?!
Cheers

Sorry, AMD has no plans to use DDR2 with current processors. In fact, AMD has the memory controller on the CPU, and as far as I know it doesn't support DDR2 at all.

AMD will have to completly redesign the CPU's on board memory controller before the Athlon64 will be compatible with DDR2. It will require purchasing a new CPU as it is the chip that controlls the memory and not the motherboard in Athlon64/FX systems.

I think the earlist predictions are late 2005/early2006.

Amd has said they will consider DDR2 when it becomes practical, read most often as DDR2-667 and a halving of current prices.
DDR2 does not fit on current s939 boards.

Y choose the P4 just because it has DDR2? DDR2 is not much faster than DDR1 plus it is waaaay more expensive. The athlon64 is faster in games than the P4 even without DDR2.
