OMG! That is the most awesome gameplay I've ever seen. I just hope it's not too linear and that it's as open ended as it looks. HOLY CRAP!

Quick Time? Why install a virus on your computer?

man, i wish there were a hacked codec for these quick time files that are every where now a days. i cant stand quick time! it takes every thing over, even if you tell it not to. and it makes every effort to get you to buy it.

No it doesn't... Not for me. I installed it and the only thing it opens is .mov files. Works great.

Seems like we haven't really had a lot of great games come out over the last year or so...seems like there's been a lit of let-down titles--at least from what I've seen. I really think Doom 3 and HL 2, as well as some other forthcoming games, like Far Cry, are going to really rejuvinate the gaming world.

it kind of looks like the deal with being able to knock stuff off ledges and take out people is more of a staged novelty. i would be disappointed if you couldnt interact in the same way with EVERY object in the game. or the part wher the supports get taken out from that box, if you dont throw the nade in the right spot, why wouldnt it just fall the other way? it looks like those things are programmed for you. they did a lot of that in the first one. i remember one part where you had to guide the bombing target and take out a door and a tower so you could walk accross it. the tower would always fall the correct way. those kinds of things just bug me.

If you watch the big full video that dh posted, they explain that "setup" you are complaining about. There is one part where some friend d00d boobytraps all this stuff for you (the dumpster, the I-beam) so you can use it on the bad guys. You can actually interact with everything, as is also shown in the big video.

In the article from PC Gamer, its mentioned how the game world is interactive/destructable. For instance, you can take a shotgun to a wooden floor and blow the floor apart. Wood will also burn. If you hide behind an obstacle, the enemy will try to find a way to remove the obstacle. If I remember correctly, one of the developers shows off the interactivity in a scene where he is pinned by turret fire. He picks up a manhole cover to use as a shield to get close enough to the turret to disable it.
Hopefully this interactive environment can be pulled off well enough to allow multiple solutions for different areas.
