Cant play empire total war on my new computer

My specs
AMd Phenom 945 x6
Nvidia GTS 250 1 gb video card
Windows 7 home premium 64 bit
I bought the game from steam, it opens but starts flickering and when i try to do grand campaign it just freezes. Please help very frustrating.

No, my coomputer meets the reccomended I dont think thats it...

I know that it can be very frustrating but I think you should just play starcraft instead because the total war game just suck boe

To OP...you *should* be able to run it with what you have. I could get it running on my old P4 3 gig with a 6800XT...it wasn't playable...but it did run.
