Can Crysis 2 be maxed out with already existing hardware?

I heard that Crysis 2 actually has lower system requirements than the first game. Could a Ci7 980X @4.0+ GHz, 12GB of DDR3 2000 MHz RAM, and let's say Two HD 5970's or 3-way SLI GTX 480's (superclocked) max out Crysis 2, like they can the original Crysis?

If Crytex can develop a crysis2 with current hardware then why cant we max it out with the same current hardware, It is not that crytex time travelled in the future and developed there game using radeon 7890 or nvidia 680 then came back in present time to sell it.lol.

Crysis 2 takes place in New York city, and urban jungle, not a tropical jungle like the first game. So there isn't a lot of grass and foliage, or anything that would really pull a lot from the GPU.

Unless they make a CryEngine 3 Crysis 2 benchmark that takes place in a jungle.

What Crysis 2 has is code optimisation (rumoured to be better than that in Warhead ); so instead of lower system requirements what you will get is better performance on the same hardware as compared to the original Crysis.

I have to agree with michaelmk86, they aren't going to make a multi-platform game that 100% of xbox users can play and 10% of pc users can play. It just wouldn't be good business.

Exactly!!! if crysis 2 have high system requirements only a 10% of pc users can play with max setting and big resolutions. But the 360/ps3 play multi-platform games with 1280x720(some times with 1024x600), medium settings and 25-30fps. So even a 8800(that is from 2006) can play multi-platform games better than consoles.

^^^

True.

However, PC gamers tend to want to set the resolution to the maximum (native) resolution of the monitor or HDTV. Therefore, while a person playing the Xbox 360 version on a HDTV, it is merely 1280x720 (or whatever) scaled up to 1920x1080. Most hardcore PC gamers will simply set the game resolution to 1920x1080 when connected to a HDTV (or equivalent LCD monitor).

That's the real difference between console and PC gaming. I'm sure Crysis 2 will have additional graphic settings in the PC version as well to take advantage of more powerful video cards.

since when is jungle and grass and foilage more demanding than city graphics?? did anyone ever think about city lighting? mirror imaging? reflection? destructable objects? water and drainage down the streets?dust? this too uses a lot (in my mind) more than jungle and foilage!

watch the trailers, foreshowings and previews of crysis 2 before speculating!

yes, it was kind of Crytek to lower system requirements because of the graphic intensity of the urban city!!!

lets see when the game releases!

I hope they make a jungle map to be used as the Crysis 2 benchmark. I'd like to see an example of what Crysis would probably have looked like if it were built on the CryEngine 3.

we already have a jungle benchmark, a couple of games set in the jungle (Crysis, Crysis Warhead, Far Cry 2, Just Cause 2 etc), to be quite honest, I'm getting so sick of the jungle. I hope they make a benchmark through the urban life! Yes, the above games were great games, but I'm truly sick and tired of the jungle!

i'm counting on the CryEngine3 to deliver, but I don't think anyone will be left dissappointed!

Im so sick of people asking these ridiculous questions. There is no game that requires 4 way sli and a $1000.00 CPU to run. I had an i7 920 and a gtx 295 and I maxed out Crysis easily. I just upgraded to a GTX 580 which is a single gpu card and have even better performance. Everyone keeps positng their specs and asking if they can run the game. WAIT TIL IT COMES OUT. And there has never been a game that requires a 5000+ dollar PC to run. The average components contained in the serious PC gamer's system will be able to run any game on decent settings.

Yes, Crysis 2 will run better than all the other games developed by them. Crytek had said that they had tested it with one of their Core i7 and 200 series GPU and they said that it was eating the game for breakfast! :D
Hoping it would run on my 8400 GS!! :??:
