my friend just got a P4 1.6A, asus P4S533, Crucial 256mb DDR2100, IBM 40GB HD, abit gf4 mx440, sony 24x10x40. so we assembled everything together, partitioned, formatted the harddrive. i set the fsb to the default 100mhz and the cpu runs at 1.6G. i also disabled the onboard sound and LAN. everything else we left it at default. but then when we tried to install windows, it stops at the screen where it said "initializing your system". we tried it with win98, win2000, and winXP and the same thing happens.
so we thought there may be some problems with our hardware. we tried replaceing the cdrom, video card, ram, and harddrive. the only things we haven't try to replace are the cpu and motherboard, which we have no extra. and also the powersupply we haven't try to replace coz i am pretty sure that it is not where the problem is. btw, it's an Antec 300w. so at the end, the computer still won't install windows.
i guess the problem is not with the hardware. i think there is something about the bios setting or jumper that is set incorrectly. the jumper is in jumper free mode. and i left the ram timings at default which is the slowest timings. i couldn't think of anything else i can do so i hope you guys can help me out. thks
