Web friendships! What are they? What
are they worth?
They are most often between people of
like interests, at least in one specific
and important area. Hense, these
friendships form most often at forums
and chat sites dealing with specific
topics.
Then what?
So we post and reply every week, more
and more and become quite familiar with
each other. We have cool discussions
with others and laugh alot and soon
become very much at ease with one
another. Cool.
Then what?
You`re perhaps in another country,
across the ocean or at the other
end of the continent. Not likely
we will meet. Sure we could exchange
pics and such. But that`s about it.
There will never be a sharing of the
sights ands sounds of laughter or a
sharing of the tastes and smells
of a good meal and drinks. Real
brotherhood and real comradery will
always be lacking.
Now what?

Yes, Chucky!
Some REAL alcohol would be called for at about now.
I was thinking exactly that.
I finish my shift at 19:20, will stop of at Provigo, for a 1l bottle of cold white wine and head home.
Around 20:30 or so will pop her open and drink away this damn mindfullness [-peep-], cause it`s ripping me apart.
She is so dear to me , you just cannot beleive to what extent...to let her go will be an unearthly act of courage...
thx for caring
peace to you

i can't stand people that chat online or post in forums acting like they are right there with the person. things like "hey dude, pass me a beer!" internet relationships are pointless. if you think they're anything more than the mindless babble to entertain yourself, there's something seriously wrong with you.
Thanks function, you've brought something important to the front. What if, indeed I were to have some drinks in real time and on a caht, say Messenger, with a forum buddy! Huh? What would that be like? We agree on a date and time and he is seated at his pc with his drink of predilection and so am I. So. We start drinking and chatting of everything and of nothing. And we drink and drink and drink...and chat and chat and chat...
This is really feasable, and would be fun too. The thing is, it's all happening in the MIND...
Therefore, there are a few prerequisites for this to work:
1- you must like to drink...d'oh!
2- you must be open minded, no hangups, trusting
3- you must have a fertile imagination
That's about it...
The thing is...how fare can you go with this...how close can you become, with all the loop holes, multiple meanings and sarcastic unclarities etc...that is the difficulty...otherwise , you could have a jolly good time, you know, recounting this that and the other time!
So, come to think of it and noe that i've thought about it (of same thing, sorry!) well, I'm gonna call up a forum buddy I know here and we will do exactly that. We will fix a date for a nice informall "WEB
Booz Meeting" of sorts and recall past obsenities and such... I'm sure it will be reveiling for the advancement of "WEB
Sociologie" and for general viewing entertainement...we can bring in some viewers to the chat...we could save the chat file and post it also!
Hey man i'm on a roll here...
Thx , Function, thank you very much
Bye bye
Danny

Well maybe webcams can make a conversation through the Internet more real, but still...
Maybe a reunion would be cool, but then... a lot of members are from 'far' away countries.
My watercooler contains so much water that the moon has influence upon it .
hehe
That's why I prefer the white wine.
Way up here in canada it's easy to keep it cold, just prop it against the window sill and the cold air from the constant blizzards that occour at such a northenrly latitude, cool it up nice. Must be carefull, if I leave it too long it will freeze...
Brrrrrrrrrrrr damn it's cold.....

Well if I'm right there are already chat clients that support it, the only problem is that you need a fast internet connection for it to manage the video and audio stream.

True, but I just don`t want to start drilling holes and pulling damn wire throught the house, just don`t feel up to it!
So, it`s wireless!
Main cable connection is on my 12 yearold`s Duron that is in a network (win 98) with my 8 yearold`s K6-2 400. Then I add the wireless network hub to that Duron and set up a second network (wireless this time) with the K6-2 500+ in the basement.
This should work out ok! Yes?

Well I think it would work, but it would also be possible two 'fuse'these two networks into one 'big' LAN, that way the internet connection is easy to share and you can also play games over it and share files/printers... but I'm not sure if there are wireless-to-ethernet adapters... if not you will have to make the entire network wireless. You will have to ask some other users who know more about wireless LANs for this.
