Not that one specifically (used to have the older 555D card in one of my
laptops), but I have an RV with a repeater and an aimable high gain planar
antenna on the roof from http://www.cellantenna.com/ in it (CAE-550), allows
cellphones/cards etc to work in low signal areas. Aside from the RV being
great fun for personal use, I work for a place that does computers and
cellphone sales/repair etc, and it makes a great sales tool (along with
being tax deductable). It's the same sort of repeater you see in big
buildings and even many verizon stores (to give a great signal for demo
phones). Specifically when camping, I used to take the laptop with the 555D
card out by the campfire, and be online while dinner was cooking.

From another post you replied to, I installed a WiFi network in the RV, and
would like to use a 5220 card on one machine inside and share it, rather
than have seperate cards/tethered cellphones on each laptop and multiple
lines/contracts.

When I was in San Diego a few months back, one of my friends came over with
his laptop and a 5220, and it worked just fine with the test EVDO system
they have there.

Just out of curiosity, the only SR I saw in the past was for Nextel/Iden, do
they have other ones now?

I'd like to make my own "bag phone" with a modern digital handset as
the start. Seems like the best of both worlds. Along using a an
antenna, amp, battery(2amp) and cable/connectors.

I bought a 9db Yagi for camping and now I'm wondering if a panel
antenna wouldn't be much easier to transport in a car, let alone
lifting up on an extended pool handle mast? It'snot the antenna but
the mount that is heavy. Assume aiming with the debug screen readings
would be the same?
The panels/planar antennas I saw were 7.5db which should be plenty,
especially when use with an amplifier. I only discovered today 800mhz
planars, after you mentioned using one, always thought they were
designed mainly for PCS?

Any comments on this Bi-directional amp?

I figured it was something like that. I basically have something similar
in mind.

They've got several models, see
http://www.cellantenna.com/Boosters/cellphone_signal_bo...

Unless I hear other stuff on them, I'll post my results when it comes
in.

Thanks!

Fraid I don't know where "here" is for you, but another excuse/reason to go
to Las Vegas, after the test/turn on in SD and DC, they are the 3rd city to
have active EVDO (from verizon).
