Ram and Motherboard compatibility

Hi, I have a new motherboard that can run PC400 RAM.

Is it ok if I insert PC266 RAM into it?

I just checked the manual and yes hehe, it does support slower ram.

btw it's an MSI K8M Neo-V

I was asking because right after I installed the new motherboard, my RAM suddenly gets errors. (the symptom was my pc always urged me to go to safe mode)I ran memory test-86 v3.2 and yes, my RAM does have errors.

So I thought installing the new motherboard sort of damaged my RAM. But maybe it's just all a coincidence.

Sometimes the information in the RAM SPD is wrong. You might have to select the right speed in the BIOS.

You can select the RAM speed in the BIOS.

Sometimes CPUZ will tell you the RAMs SPD, or SiSoft Sandra.
