ASUS A8N-SLI mobo

Hi gang. I have an ASUS A8N-SLI mobo with the Nvidia Nforce4 chipset. I'm wondering if anybody out there has one of these and is using a device other than a hard drive (such as an optical drive) in the SATA ports. I have heard that some SATA controllers won't recognise anything but hard drives. Anybody know if that's the case with this mobo?

DOn't know first hand, but the manual states that it will accept hard disk drives or boot devices. Seems the best way to figure it out is to try it....
