I have had a LG VX4400 for about 4 months. I initially programmed the
phone so that I could call to retrieve voice mail by pressing the send
button while viewing the voice mail notification . The phone would
then dial *86 wait 4 seconds and then send my password so I could hear
the message without any further intervention by me. This worked
perfectly, countless times right up to this week then it stopped doing
the above. Now when I press send it only dials the *86 and ignores
the pause and password. I now have to manually enter in the password
in order to get my voice mail. I checked 'Msg Settings' for the
'Voice Mail Number' and there is no change, it is the same as I
originally programmed it. What makes it even harder to understand is
I also programmed it the exact same way in voice dialing and it
continues to work fine. Anyone got any ideas about this.

I had the same thing happen. I had mine set up to dial my cell number,
pause, and then send password. Worked for quite a while, now no matter what
I put in, the phone will ONLY dial *86. Someone said that VZW forces phones
to dial only *86.
I set up a speed/voice dial entry with my cell number, pause and password.
I ignore the option to retrieve VM & use the speed/voice dial entry to get
voicemail. By dialing the phone number it also works when on extended
network & roaming.
Before VZW offered unlimited MTM & started charging all VM retrieval to
anytime minutes, dialing my cell number would use MTM.

The same thing happened to me about a month ago. Before that, it was
working exactly as you described for 10 months! Calls to VZ customer
service yield no clue. Weird.
