Dragon Age crashes

I installed dragon age origins and played for about an hour to Ostagar. Now i can only play for about 5-10 minutes and the audio cuts out and makes a screeching sound and then the game crashes. After it crashes if i relaunch it it instantly crashes and programs like Google Chrome and Steam start getting black boxes and artifacts when im moving the mouse around.

My specs are:

HIS 4870 ICEQ4 1GB
Phenom II X3 720 BE @ 3.20GHz
4GB G.Skill RAM
Windows 7 64-bit

I tried updating my graphics drivers to 10.7 but that did not solve it.

is it a legal copy of the game?

Yep. Just bought it today and was happy to see the ATI logo on the back of the box. =/

have you tried updating your audio drivers?

No, but only because im not entirely sure what audio drivers i would need to download. I have ATI HD Audio and High Definiton Audio Device according to the device manager...

Oh, i found the new drivers on gigabyte's website for my motherboard, i'll try these out, hopefully this works.
