Can i play modern warfare 2 offline

it is only my first time to play Modern Warfare 2. i already finish registering the product and still up to now it is downloading thou i finish installing it why is it have to be donwloaded? was it an upgrade or something. but if ever i finish downloading it would i be able to play the single player offline because in my location there are no internet connection available there? Thanks for the answer in advance....

As long as you log off your steam account properly before you go into the non-internet area...you can start steam in offline mode and play the single player.

Agree! There is also an option where you can start Steam in offline mode everytime steam/ windows start up. Doing this will give you the option to connect to the internet (if at all) whenever you feel.
