What flashing util to use?

I am trying to upgrade the bios on this board:

http://www.amptron.com/html/MB-K7-825LU.html

I don't have the manual anymore, so what's there is all the documentation I have. I have downloaded a .rom file with the bios update from amptron's website. The instructions on the website say to use the included flash.exe utiltiy to do the update but then link to an archive with just the .rom file. A google for flash.exe has only turned up hits on very un-official looking sites so I'm hesitant to use one of them.

I have tried using amiflash.exe, which I got from ami's website, and another, which I got from elsewhere at amptron's site but both seem to think that the system rom isn't flashable. I've been told that this is more likely because I'm using the wrong util than because the bios isn't flashable (the bios is dated 2002, so it's not that old and the manufacturer provides an update, so..) but is there any way to tell which util would be appropriate? I'm a bit stuck about where to go from here. I have looked through the bios setup and there doesn't seem to be an option there to disable flashing, so I don't think that's an issue.

If it helps, the bios is dated 12/27/2002 and has the following ID info in the lower-left during bootup:
62-1227-009999-00101111-040201-VIA_K7-M825VXX-

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help!

Luckliy for you I can't sleep.

1) Flash.exe is only a place holder for the name of the real utility.

2) Amptron doesn't have a pdf version of your motherboard manual for download. :(

3) There is a fake website offering downloads of amptron motherboard manuals but it really send you to a porn page. :(

4) You motherboard is in the same board as the PCChips M825LU v3.x board, just sold under different names. :)

http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article.php?id=65K7- 825LU

If that information is accurate then you have an alternate source for updates, manual etc..

5) The latest bios doesn't include any flash utility. :(

6) The pervious verion does :)

There is a pretty good change that the flash utility for the previos bios update works for the new one.

7) I am still not asleep :(

First, I'm really sorry that you can't sleep.

...well, actually I'm not because that was really helpful but as a former insomniac I can at least sympathize. =;)

The util is matched to the bios, not the particular update, right? So there's no reason to worry about using the util that came with the older firmware to apply the new one? Just being careful.

Actuall at least 90% of the time sequential BIOS releases use identical flashing utilities.

The utility just copies into into the BIOS so there is no reason to make changes unless they discover a flaw, or want to add a new feature

Unlike the BIOS which undergo a lot of customization to accomodate a specific motherboard, usually the BIOS flashing utility end's up being standard issue, at least for that chipset & BIOS chip.

My old motherboard a SOYO KT400 changed utilites on me once. The previoius one and my current one never switched form the original.

Also there tech support is probably not completely brain dead, if it required a new utlity they would most likey have released it with the rom.
