Download steam but cant update

Hello, i just brought cod mwf 2 and installed steam into my comp, but the steam could not update, it said "unavailable, try again later." have been trying the whole day just cant update, so now i can't play my cod!! Does anyone know how to fix it?

it,s free download game counter strike 1.6.
then i instal this games ,he shows steam file .
i try many time to open steam , then i open steam he checking updates.
but he can,t update ,he says update no available . please help
my interner working fine.

Hello, for cod mwf 2, you should not buy through the internet. You should buy from supermarkets. I buy cod mwf 2 from supermarket and when I install and play it, steam is not required.

As for me, I am having problem with updating steam, too. When I click steam, it said updating steam and it said 'to update steam, you must first connect to the internet' but at that time I am connected to the internet. Please reply. My e-mail account is thalinhtet@gmail.com.
