If you reinstall XP after reformatting does some of the old registry survive?
Or are there ways of installing XP that make sure it does'nt?

Shouldn't, if you reformatted ... but I always do a low-level format (write zero's) to HDD just to be sure of a clean wipe ... some suggest writing zero's twice to be sure. Most major HDD manufacturers have "tools" on their websites that you can d/l to a floppy to do the low-level format, if you chose ...
