Hey I currently have these specs on my desktop:

Operating System
MS Windows 7 64-bit
CPU
Intel Core 2 Duo E7400 @ 2.80GHz 35 °C
Wolfdale 45nm Technology
RAM
4.0GB Dual-Channel DDR2 @ 398MHz (6-6-6-18)
Motherboard
Dell Inc. 0G214D (CPU)
Graphics
VX1935wm-3 @ 1440x900
Acer AL2017 A @ 1400x1050
NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GT (Microsoft Corporation - WDDM) (XFX Pine Group)
Hard Drives
156GB Seagate ST3160815AS ATA Device (Unknown Interface) 37 °C
Optical Drives
TSSTcorp CDRWDVD TS-H493B ATA Device
Audio
High Definition Audio Device

I plan on upgrading my video card to an ati radeon 5770 1gb vram

Will these be enough to let the game run decent or will another piece of hardware bottle neck me?

Thanks!

not a chance in hell. Sorry your gonna be crushed even at minimal settings.
I run the game at low to medium settings on my rig, and get 27-35fps:
Phenom II 955 BE @3.2
GTX 275
4gigs DDR3 OCZ
80gig SSD

Your GPU will severely bottle neck this game followed by your CPU(although not nearly as bad as your video card), and then your ram. SOrry to burst your bubble...but your in need of an upgrade if you want to play FFXIV

To have at least a viable experience you want to hit the 2700 mark on the benchmark test they have for download. And believe me..the benchmark doesnt really do justice to how demanding this game is. The opening cu scene's(which is the benchmark app)
run smooth a silk for me. But I get significantly lower FPS in game.

I don't understand what pheinzig is trying to tell you with "Your GPU will severely bottle neck this game" since it makes no sense.
Anyway, that configuration should be fine. I get more than 30fps (don't remember how many, but it was fluid and I got a good score) with my hd4890 at 1920*1080 in the benchmark.
The hd5770 is just a bit slower (like 5-10%), but you game at 1400x1050 .
I'd be more worried about the cpu. But about that just oc a bit (like 3.2~3.4) and you're ready to go.
If you want to know about the cpu I can disable four of my cores on my x6 1055t and try to run the game with 2 cores at 3.2ghz.

http://www.ffxivcore.com/topic/7393-gpu-and-cpu-score-l...

check if there is your cpu, i got a 5770 and a 955BE and i get like 4300ish on low with stock sets on cpu/gpu. Looks like 720p depends more from your cpu, and 1080p depends more from your gpu. with that cpu and a 5770 you could get above 2000 on low i think... Check that site, there is a link to a spreadsheet with a list of cpu/gpu combos and the points that got on bench... Somebody said that the bench was bassed on alpha version of the game, so dont worry much about the points you get from the bench, there have been ppl playing in beta with low settings and got around 500 points on bench.

Hey halfpipe,

Not sure on the comparison of a 7600 to wht i did have which was a 7950 acompanied by a 3.4 pentium dual core (d) or something like that anyways at a 7950 i couldnt even run the benchmark just sound so i upgraded to a evga 460gtx and it scored 1500... Did a rebuild w/ 460 and got a 4600 on low w/ 965 3.4 3 gig ddr3 and of corse a new board 2700 on 1080p
