Sigma Core - a beautiful continuation of the Doom3 plot, very scary, but
sadly, a bit short)

Kiltron's Trite Breeding Facility - haven't played this one all the way
through, but it has gotten good reviews and the beginning looks good
(http://doom3.filefront.com/file/Trite_Breeding_Facility;29916)

Obi-Wan Map01 - Two words: PURE F**KIN GENIUS. Again, I haven't played the
whole map through, but from what I've seen, it's worth the d/l. This is the
only map I've seen with cutscenes (aside from the "bloody walls" scene in
Sigma Core)

Fortcomp - A pretty interesting idea, part of the Last Man Standing (LMS)
mod, where you pretty much kill wave after wave of enemies, starting with a
pistol, fists, flashlight, and chainsaw, and gaining weapons as harder
enemies come at you. It's tough to beat, and a hog on system resources (my
2.8ghz p4 w/ 1gb RAM was choking during some close-quarters plasma-gunning)

Doom 3 Classic - This is a pretty good idea, remaking all the Classic Doom
maps using the Doom 3 engine. There are hundreds of E1M1 maps flooding the
net since the release of Doom3, but I must say, for the guy's first map,
this one is pretty bitchin'. A perfect mix of classic and artistic
liscense. Keep an eye on it if you like good ole' Doom.

There are more on planetdoom and d3files, these are just the ones I like.

I've played most of this and it's good stuff. There was a scripting bug
that kept a door closed (unless I missed something) but in any case it's
well worth a d/l.

Thx, I'll try this!

I've played this also, and enjoyed it. It's quite difficult on Hard,
and I had to re-enable the HUD+crosshair to ensure I got headshots on the
first try :)

Here's another one i just downloaded today and played.

It's rather short (i was wondering why the dl was only 13mb), but I really
really REALLY really liked it (did i get my point across?)

It's a cross between first-person shooter and first-person puzzle-solving
game, and it's designed brilliantly.

The mod is based off of "Pathways into Darkness" by Bungie (yes, they
actually made games that DON'T involve floating rings and annoying vehicular
additions to multiplayer).

But this is far more than tribute to a stylish adventure game, this is just
spooky.

The story can be found on the mod's website:

(yes, i know it's planethalflife, i guess he just made mods before that,
dont ask me.)

The basic idea is that a small team of 8 operatives has to bust into a
pyramid, plant a thermonuclear device, prevent some alien god from
awakening, and get out.

The tricky part is all the monsters inside the pyramid.

Like I said, the mod doesn't go to far, but this is by far the most
promising and far-reaching conversion i've seen so far (HUD & PDA reskinned,
me rikey).

Have fun.

Alpha Labs Sector 5 -

This map is pretty good, with a little action and a little suspense.

However, that said, there are a few flaws in the map. The performance
drops in serveral spots (unfortunately, the beginning of the map is one
of these spots!)

The map is pretty linear, with almost no backtracking at all (aside from
a teleportation which i don't count as backtracking, since it has a view
of a previous area, but is a unique area in itself).

However, the map is quite a bit of fun, and I got about 10 minutes of
play out of it (it's not very long at all).

I thought the sounds were a nice touch on this map.

Download, unzip, load it up, and enjoy!
