I will be buying a DFI Lanparty nf3 250gb s754 board soon. Should I be concerned that DFI has not offered an official BIOS update (their site lists 8/04 BIOS date, marked original release.)

Also, I sent them an e-mail (techsupport@dfiweb.com) several days ago to ask them about BIOS updates and never heard back.

I know a lot of people are using this board. What do you guys think?

ps - I will not really do any overclocking, this board is still strong at stock speeds right? Don't want to talk about s939 please.

THANKS!

To me, BIOS are for fixing issues or compatibility with CPU that were not on the market when the board was released.

So, when you see a board that often have to update the BIOS, other for adding compatibility with new stuff, most likely means that the design is a flawed and need frequent BIOS update to have the thing to work stable. It is quite normal to have more update at lunch time, as user will test it anf find compatibility problems. But after a while, the update should become less frequent or at the same time as new CPU/RAM are announced.

But not having a lot of BIOS update is definitively a good thing imho.
