Question. Does anyone know of a website that offers Consumer Reports style reliabililty ratings for PC components? Something like that would be very helpful.

I'm finding that a components reliability is becoming the most important factor in what I purchase. When I'm purchasing PC components my budget ends up being the primary determiner of the performance level that I look at. When you know what these two things are (budget and performance), it seems like more and more you are trying to choose between several products that have similar options, capabilities, and performance ratings.

The different options in a price range end up performing at about the same level, so a product's or brand's reliabilty is really important to know. Do I really care about the extra 1.7 FPS or couple of points in Sandra that a product will give me if it isn't going to be reliable?

It is tough because people want to justify their purchases and say my item are the best, the generic answer is just to search the web/local stores and learn from what you can from people you meet.
