HL2 vs D3 - Doom3 stinks!!

I finished HL2 and I had posted that I was a little disappointed with the
end, and I found the puzzles and problem solving too easy.

I am now 6 levels into Doom3 - AND I AM SO BORED!!!

No storyline, repetitive tasks, just shoot the things trying to kill you -
and that's it.

Plus it's way too dark!! I am getting sick of the darkness - it's very
monotonous.

I don't want to go back to it - but now that I paid for it - I feel like I
must - yuck!!
