How to get wifi with ether net for Xbox @ college?

I am currently a college student and living in a dorm, i read a guide about ow to get XboxLive on your xbox with Ethernet cable, Laptop(wifi and cable accessible), and my xbox. I tried plugging it into the computer and messing with the connection settings with my computer, but the college has the settings on lock. So with out having to buy a Xbox Wifi plug-in, what should i do?
